Did you read my blog yesterday? I actually want to vent about something that I had touched on yesterday. I was discussing how much will power I need to be able to walk into the staff lounge. The amount of food temptations is insurmountable! Whenever I walk in there some kind of sweet treat is available. Ironically, I walked into the lounge to put away my lunch this morning and taped to the fridge was a weekly breakfast schedule. Each Friday a specific grade level is responsible for doing a staff breakfast! What's even more irritating is that I'm on the committee that plans events for our building such as this one. During our last meeting I was hoping that weekly breakfasts were just a suggestion; not necessarily an idea we were going to follow through with. I'm sure many of you are thinking - really? This girl can't even enjoy weekly breakfasts or participate? But, the answer is no...I don't want to participate but how crappy would that look if I'm the only one (AND I'M EVEN ON THE COMMITTEE!) that chooses not to bring a breakfast?! I do think it is annoying because no, my definition of healthy is typically not anyone else's definition of healthy. To them eating a sausage casserole, bagel, or doughnut once a week is no big deal. To me, I have chosen a lifestyle of eating healthy and those three entrees are no longer on my meal plan. People can think what they want, that I'm too strict with what I eat, but it makes me happy eating the foods I eat and I think they are good, that's enough for me. Back to my ranting and raving - do any of you get irritated with these efforts at staff meals and snacks? Knowing me, I will cook a frickin' casserole or pick up bagels (because they are easy) with a smile on my face and participate just to keep the happy "balance" in the building.
